DVC Students Make Waves: Impressive Showcase at the National Chinese Expo of Student Works

Feb 2, 2024

In November 2023, six students from DVC’s Chinese program entered the National Chinese Expo of Student Works. The event was organized by the American Academy of International Culture and Education (AAICE), a non-profit organization composed of leading U.S. Chinese education experts and dedicated teachers.

The objective of this event is to provide students with a platform to show their talents as well as their experience in learning the target language.

After two months of careful selection from a pool of over 4000 K-16 students, all six DVC students successfully advanced to both the initial and final rounds of the exhibition. Notably, three creative works were chosen to be showcased and commented on during the live celebratory event on January 28, 2024.

Joseph Lu’s Chinese Dialect study on “Numbers from 1-10”, Ezra Noe’s crochet of Chinese character “Double Happiness”, and Tejasveer Chugh’s poster on “China’s Basketball” received high praise from expert judges for their creativity and uniqueness during the live celebratory event.

Dj Brown Syess’ Joke on “Rabbit and Boss”, Ben De Bonis’ poem recitation and Hudson Schuchmann’s birthday card is also exhibited on the AAICE website

DVC’s Chinese program professors Huiqin An and Sheree Lin would like to congratulate all six students for their hard work and creativity, and for representing DVC during the nationwide competition. We express our gratitude to Dr. Janette Funaro, the Dean of Arts and Communication, and Prof. Raquel Garcia, Chair of the World Language and Cultures Department, for their invaluable support and for graciously taking the time to participate in the live celebratory event.
